Techniques

A person wearing a black t-shirt and shorts is exercising on a balance board using MOTR equipment. They are holding resistance bands attached to a cylindrical device with yellow wheels, positioned on either side of the board. One arm is extended while the other is bent.

MOTR

MOTR® is core fitness roller with an arm unit that can be attached to the end, on each end of the arm is a variable resistance module. It is able to hold a person standing, walking, kneeling, or laying on it. The combination of a rounded surface and variable weight in the straps makes the MOTR® a great tool for balance training, core control and core training, alignment, aerobic conditioning, and functional movement patterns to be trained. It can be used with senior citizens with balance issue to professional athletes who want to experience an intense workout.
A person with long hair tied back is performing a Pilates exercise on a reformer machine, lifting their legs and arms in a balanced position, engaging their core. They are dressed in athletic wear, including a sports bra and leggings.

Pilates

Pilates is an innovative and safe system of mind-body exercise using a floor mat or a variety of equipment. It evolved from the principles of Joseph Pilates and can dramatically transform the way your body looks, feels and performs. Pilates builds strength without excess bulk, capable of creating a sleek, toned body with slender thighs and a flat abdomen.

It is a safe, sensible exercise system that will help you look and feel your very best. It teaches body awareness, good posture and easy, graceful movement. Pilates also improves flexibility, agility and economy of motion. It can even help alleviate back pain.

Redcord®

Redcord® suspension exercises improve strength, muscular endurance, balance, coordination, core muscle stability, and neuromuscular control. This is what we refer to as functional strength.

Redcord® enables you to exercise in a safe but challenging manner in order to develop strength and control in end of range positions. And since Redcord® exercises can activate several muscle groups during a single exercise, training time is reduced. Performance training with Redcord® consists of three-dimensional exercises with high carry-over effect to sporting situations.

CoreAlign

CoreAlign improves strength, balance, posture and functional movement patterns. The CoreAlign method stimulates our core stability muscles to fire in perfect timing while performing functional exercises, deep stretches and core-controlled aerobic training. The method is used for musculoskeletal rehabilitation, performance enhancement and general conditioning for overall wellness.

The CoreAlign frame encloses two tracks and carts, which move independently with smooth resistance (or assistance). The CoreAlign is extraordinarily versatile with hundreds of completely new and unique movement exercises.

Massage

My massage techniques are combination of Swedish, Sports, and Nimmo (soft tissue work developed by a chiropractor). I have 30 years of experience having worked in a chiropractic office, a day spa, and a physical therapy clinic. I have worked on a diverse clientele ranging from young dancers to athletes and senior citizens with hip replacements.

Testimonials

He ensures that my technique is always correct to avoid any injuries. He is extremely reliable & punctual – always set up & ready to start training ahead of time, with an exercise routine planned.
I’ve been training with Andy for a few years now, and believe he is one of the most experienced & committed trainers around. I started training 3 times a week, and really enjoyed the variety & challenge he put into the sessions, plus he’s hilarious which makes the time fly by!

Andy is focused on helping me achieve my goals and makes every session challenging (& somehow fun). My fitness has increased noticeably and I’ve seen improvements in my ability to complete more and more core exercises, and generally push myself harder throughout each session. I find I actually look forward to my workout sessions now!

I thoroughly enjoy working out with Andy, and would recommend him to anyone looking to improve their fitness and overall health with a dedicated trainer.

On a more personal note: He prepared my body for major surgeries and helped me though my PT after. Once my PT gave me the all clear to do moderate and restricted exercise I went back to Andy. I needed they type of trainer who would understand my limitations, but also assist in my rehabilitation and return to exercise. I knew that if I trained on my own I would risk further injury so I needed to have appropriate training planned and a person to monitor me.

Andy was wonderful in tailoring sessions to meet my specific rehabilitation needs. He clearly put a lot of time into designing the sessions which were full of variety and a lot of fun.
Andy challenged me within my physical capabilities but made sure there was no risk of damage to my incisions. He has a thorough understanding of how the body works and still managed to make me work up a sweat even with limited movement. I left each session feeling exhilarated, and a with more and more range of motion.

I highly recommend Andy Kohrell for personal Training. The professionalism and passion for what he does is second to none. Thanks to his assistance my surgeons/physical therapists/doctors were stunned with my improvements and after only a couple of months* with Andy. Now, a year later I am stronger, and thrilled will my progress. It just keeps getting better!

He is the best!

He’s more reliable and more disciplined than any other trainer I’ve worked with.
When I joined Core, I walked right up to Andy and said I wanted a beautiful, slender, young ballerina girls’ body, and by gosh that’s exactly what he delivered. All kidding aside, in all my years of working out, with so many different trainers, Andy is hands down the best.

He’s been instrumental in getting me ready for many roles that I’ve played over the last few years and let me tell you something, it’s a lot harder getting ready for shower scenes in my 50’s. Andy is also the most knowledgeable trainer I’ve worked with.

Knowing exactly what’s right for my body at all times. He’s the most cautious as well, never letting me push too hard to where I may hurt myself, but knowing my how strong and how capable I truly am, and always pushing me safely to the limit. I’m someone with an unpredictable schedule and Andy has always been flexible and eager to make changes work.
He’s more reliable and more disciplined than any other trainer I’ve worked with. Trust me, I try everything to distract this man to allow me to slide a bit, even bringing up personal stories about Bette Midler or what cool actress or actor I happen to be working with that week– nothing throws this guy off- and I’m grateful for that.

In my line of work, obviously appearance is important, but to me health is just as important. With Andy and Pilates – I get both. I get a lot of nice compliments now and then about looking fit and healthy – and mostly I take all the credit, but if I’m being super honest, I give Andy a lot of credit too.

Thanks Andy!!

Andy has helped not only with working out tension but also with scar-work.
I have had 3 massages with Andy and am looking forward to continuing to work with him. His background is evident in his ability to identify and assess places where tension is being held, and then work to release it. I have a lot of scars on my body from multiple gender-affirming surgeries, and Andy has helped not only with working out tension but also with scar-work.

Throughout this process, Andy has been very easy to work with and has made me feel very comfortable asking for what I need and want. Andy is a great massage therapist, is easy to work with, and easy to schedule with as well. I definitely recommend booking an appointment with him!
